Kurt Vonnegut, author of "Slaughterhouse Five" and "Breakfast of Champions" and a hand-drawn Asshole, Dies

With Vonnegut's recent passing it seems worth noting that his books almost always featured a simple hand-drawn image at least once per novel. I'm not exactly sure how to describe the rhetorical effect of these drawings, but someone with more time could do a fascinating study of how these drawings operate within Vonnegut's texts.

I am happy to note that at Vonnegut's official website, http://www.vonnegut.com/ , the favicon is a replication of the asshole drawing from, if my memory serves, "Breakfast of Champions".

Best Sci-Fi book with poignancy

Kurt Vonnegut is one of my favorite dark humorist author. Slaughterhouse Five is a novel that talks about himself, a lot of characters are people that made an impression on him. Billy, a German prisoner of war, is a man who walks by himself and tells something about who he really is. Kilgore Trout also represents him, he is a science-fiction writer who isn’t very popular but has a very strong fans.

Fate, free will, cruelty and the absurdity of human nature are all combine in this book, a one rare breed of books that has a colorful description offering a glimpse of war, aliens and time travel. It has a powerful message about life that is a really fantastic.
